This boardgame comes from the same team - Reiner Knizia and John Howe - who gave us the best selling Lord of the Rings game back in 2000. Players are competing to win as much treasure as they can, while threatened by Smaug the Dragon who advances towards LakeTown with fire on his breath! It is a highly entertaining strategy game for all the family-easier to play than Lord of the Rings-and it will get you in the mood for the biggest movie event of the 21st century-Peter Jackson's The Hobbit!

Please note that on a small number of copies of the UK /Australian edition there was a misprint in the rules. Page 2 "Set-up". 2nd paragraph. 2nd sentence. " Then place all Event cards....etc". Should be "Then place all Adventure Cards with number 1 as a face down stack and place the Event Cards with number 1 face down on top of them." NB The setup diagram is correct.
